Shorebirds

Each shorebird carving is unique. While at first glance they look similar, you will notice that no two legs are the same! Our little shorebirds are prowling the shallows and one lucky fellow has scooped up lunch! To make the bases, I search for wood that looks like a sandy beach. I spend almost more time searching for the wood to make the bases than I take carving the shorebirds! This brings a cohesiveness to the piece and is pleasing to the eye.
